  • Secret Lives of Soccer Moms

So, I've been watching a new show on TLC where stay-at-home moms are given a chance to experience thier "dream job" and then after a couple of weeks they are offered a job opportunity. The husbands have no idea...because they are told that the mom is being pampered at a spa while they dad is at home trying to juggle the kids for her. So every time I watch the end of this show I just cringe when the husband is told the truth and the mom is offered a job opportunity because it seems to get everyone upset. The husbands look shocked and seem to keep a lid on what they really feel and the moms start to cry because most of these moms end up choosing to continue staying home and let this "chance of a lifetime" pass them by.

So i'm disturbed by all of this. Is this just another way to devalue staying at home and trying to do the best for your children instead of allowing other people to raise them for you???? No offense to the moms who work by choice or not by choice. Why can't they just let people who are walking down this hard road, that will pay big later when the kids are grown, alone? Is this another cheap shot by some liberal tv executive????

    What do you think??

  • Open Gates in 2008

Lots of new things opening up in this new year!!

We are moving away from our current rental and I saw the signs. I finally met a local friend and we have been letting our children play together, our local park playground is getting an overhaul with brand new equipment, etc. All these things have said to me "time to move" because it seems like when I start to get comfortable it's time to move. I guess the Lord doesn't want us leaning on anyone but Him.

But seriously, I totally believe in seasons. We have to change right along with them to see the next big miracle around the corner. Some people fear change and I have spent most of my life craving it. So time to "fasten our seatbelts" and hold on!!!

  • Let it snow...no no no!

Well, It's the first snow of the season for us and the kids were all wound up. Staying in with 2 toddlers is stressful at times. I feel like the Bill Cosby routine..."NO NO NO...DON'T DON'T DON'T...DOWN DOWN DOWN". I talk in 3's now. OH MY!!!!

So we are coming up on Christmas and there is alot to be thankful for. Our 2 children are beautiful, healthy and happy. We get hours of free entertainment from these 2 characters. Time has just flown for us and I guess we like it that way.

Hope all is well with everyone in BLOG Land!

    God Bless!

  • where is the fall weather already????

Yes, I haven't put an entry in a long time, but it still feels like summer....the never ending summer over here (yuck). We are still spending too much time indoors but when the weather changes, watch out. When we do get out there is a facination with with the acorns on the ground. My daughter keeps picking them up and saying "here squirrel". The kids on the play ground were collecting piles of them just to throw them down the slides...which hurt whoever is at the bottom...ouch. So I'm sure the squirrels are confused too....haha

Things are going great at the OASIS of a church we are attending. The Lord is really purifying his bride so just yield to it everyone.....purification is a painful process but sooooo worth it. We also keep getting "grow up and walk in God's love towards others" from the Lord, so away with our little baby thinking.

My two little ones are becoming more and more friends with each other and that is fun to watch. They climb up on the furniture together and giggle together and play tug-of-war over the same toy together.......lol....

My pet peeve lately is hearing them compared to other children or each other.....they are who God created them to be, there has been no one like them before and there will be no one like them after.....in my humble (ya right) opinion!

Finally have another mom in the area with the same kind of schedule and situation, age group and we are starting to meet up for play dates....it's fun to see them run around and get worn out together......but come on fall so we can enjoy outside better.

    God Bless everyone!!!!!

    Have a great week

  • Long time no weblog

We have been enjoying the deep well of Cornerstone Fellowship Church and just getting to gnaw some good Steak (fresh Word from the Lord). Our children are doing well with the "throw your watch away" services and long Sunday. I know, just what we asked and prayed for and now we have to get the lazy flesh used to it again.

Can't believe this is the last week in August and fall in just around the corner. I love the fall and look forward to the leaves changing, hot tea, the smell of fireplaces and crisp clean air!

Hope everyone is in good health.

  • Des Colores!

    The colors!

My husband and I both have been on retreats (Emmaus & Chrysalis) that have changed our lives and our relationships with the Lord. I went on Chrysalis when i was 19 years old and I had the pleasure of sponsoring my husband on the road to Emmaus a few years ago. I had to call my parents and thank them for all thier work and support to sponsor me because I had no idea what went into the weekend of the retreat.

So I just wanted to give a shout out to other Butterflies, Lighthouses, and anyone else who has had a similar experience and say "De Colores!!!!"

Anyone wanting to go on a life changing face to face meeting with the Lord for a weekend, just go to the Emmaus link below or ask your friends and family if anyone you know has done this retreat!!!

  • Thursday... It's hard to remember what day...

Well, we too are stuck inside with the heat. I couldn't take it the other morning and walked up to McDonalds at 9am with my double stroller... we ate our fruit and fries and then I walked back home... I was a completely soaked by the time we got home but it was worth it. We take the kids outside after dinner because they need fresh air at least once a day and that's about it.

The church we visited on Sunday was Cornerstone Fellowship in Frederick,MD. cornerstonefellowship.net if anyone wants to make a comment on thier home page they have a new chat forum.

Drawing a blank so I will stop... Hope everyone survives the "Dog Days" of August....Come on FALL!!!!! I want to pick pumpkins!!!! and speaking of ...If you want to go to a cool pumpkin farm in Maryland visit clarklandfarm.com they have a petting zoo and for all you people who went to the Enchanted Forest amusement park as a kid...they have the features from the amusement park. The Enchanted Forest is now a shopping center :(. The family that owns the farm have restored and moved the features of the park to thier farm. So your kids can climb all over the old ladies shoe, cinderella's pumpkin, etc... I'm planning to meet my sister there in the fall with all our kids and have some fun!!! So check it out You Marylanders or anyone who wants to make a day trip!!! It's located just outside of Ellicott City, MD.
